EDEN PRAIRIE HIGH SCHOOL FORWARD KYLE RAU NAMED 2011 MR. HOCKEY

ALEX LYON WINS FRANK BRIMSEK AWARD AS STATE’S TOP GOALTENDER

SAINT PAUL/MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. –The Minnesota Minute Men announced today that forward Kyle Rau from Eden Prairie High School is the recipient of the 27th Annual Mr. Hockey Award, given to the outstanding senior boy’s high school hockey player in the state of Minnesota. Alex Lyon from Lake of the Woods High School received The Frank Brimsek Award, in recognition of Minnesota’s top senior goaltender. Mark DeCenzo (Hibbing High School), Bruce Plante (Hermantown High School) and Tom Sager (White Bear Lake High School) received The John Mariucci Award, given to the Class A and Class AA high school coaches of the year. Jeff Whisler (Hill Murray/Mahtomedi) received The Cliff Thompson Award, presented to the “Old Timer Coach” of the year.

The Mr. Hockey Award, given each year to the outstanding senior hockey player in the state of Minnesota, is selected by a panel of judges, including National Hockey League scouts, Division I coaches and selected media members from around the state. Other finalists for this year’s award were: Josh Archibald (Brainerd High School),Ben Bahe (Hill-Murray),Jon Brodzinski (Blaine High School),Tony Cameranesi (Wayzata High School),Patrick Daly (Benilde-St. Margaret’s),Max Everson (Edina High School),Steven Fogarty (Edina High School),Garrett Hendrickson (Virginia High School) and Joseph LaBate (Academy of Holy Angels).

MICHAEL CHANCE BITZER WINS FRANK BRIMSEK AWARD AS STATE’S TOP GOALTENDER

 

SAINT PAUL/MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The Minnesota Minute Men announced today that Justin Kloos from Lakeville South High School is the recipient of the 28th Annual Mr. Hockey Award, given to the outstanding senior boy’s high school hockey player in the state of Minnesota. Michael Chance Bitzer from Moorhead High School received The Frank Brimsek Award, in recognition of Minnesota’s top senior goaltender. Ken Pauly (Benilde-St. Margaret’s School) and Bruce Plante (Hermantown High School) received The John Mariucci Award, given to the Class AA and Class A high school coaches of the year. Bart Larson (Edina East/West High Schools) received The Cliff Thompson Award, presented to the “Old timer Coach” of the year.

2016 Riley Tufte wins Mr Hockey Award

Mr Hockey Award
The 32nd annual Minnesota Minute Men Mr. Hockey was presented to Blaine forward Riley Tufte at the St. Paul River Centre.

Tufte was chosen ahead of finalists Wyatt Aamodt (Hermantown), Chase Ellingson (Breck), Will Garin (Holy Family Catholic), Cade Gleekel (Benilde-St. Margaret’s), Michael Graham (Eden Prairie), Tyler Jette (Farmington), Mitchell Mattson (Grand Rapids), Luke Notermann (Blaine) and Casey Staum (Hill-Murray).

The selection was made by a committee of NHL scouts and junior hockey scouts and coaches plus media members.

Frank Brimsek Award
Additionally, Nick Althaus of St. Cloud Apollo was named the winner of the Frank Brimsek Award that goes to the state's top senior goaltender.

Cliff Thompson Award
John Bianchi received the Cliff Thompson presented to a past outstanding coach.

2017 Mr Hockey Award Winner Casey Mittelstadt

Eden Prairie forward Casey Mittelstadt has won the 2017 Mr. Hockey Award given to Minnesota's top senior skater. Mittelstadt tallied 23 goals and 49 assists in 30 games this season. He has committed to the Minnesota Gophers and is a projected first-round pick in the June NHL Draft.

The Star Tribune (http://strib.mn/2lRb85Y ) reports the other Mr. Hockey finalists were Matt Anderson of Holy Family, Noah Cates of Stillwater, Nick Leivermann of Eden Prairie, Ben Meyers of Delano, Micah Miller of Grand Rapids, Bauer Neudecker of St. Louis Park, Nick Perbix of Elk River and Hermantown teammates Dylan Samberg and Ryan Sandelin.

Hill-Murray's Jake Begley won the Frank Brimsek Award, given to the state's top senior goaltender. The other finalist was Hermantown's Cade McEwen.
